Aim:
The physical, natural and social sciences and the humanities are all represented in AINA's work. Although mainly concerned with the North its interests also extend to Antarctica and to alpine environments. In 1985 programme included the Ellesmere Island Research project, the northern Practical studies Program, the Northern Employment Training study, the Divine lake Research Station and Devon Island Research Station. AINA maintains a major library and in 1982 it was developing and automated bibliographic databases system, the Arctic Science and technology information system. The institute administers a small grant fund to assist student researchers on field projects.
