The union operates research and information programmes covering- tumor biology; epidemiology and prevention; treatment and rehabilitation, detection and diagnosis; professional education; campaigns and public education; international collaborative activities; smoking and cancer. It organizes international conferences, study groups and courses, and administers the following projects. The American cancer society eleanor Roosevell, international cancer Fellowships, the Yamagiwa-Yoshida Memorial international cancer study Grants, and the international cancer research Technology Transfer Project
